Instructions for Reporting 1099 Misc Income
Form 1099-Misc. income covers a variety of taxable earnings, including rent and royalty payments, and income for contract work, or labor that you performed without technically being an employee of the person or company compensating you for your services. You must report 1099-Misc. income on state and federal income tax forms and pay taxes on these earnings. If you incurred expenses as a result of performing these services, you may deduct them in order to lower the amount of tax you owe.

Instructions
1- Complete Schedule C of Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Form 1040 if you have expenses associated with the income reported on your Form 1099-Misc.
2 - For example, if your Form 1099-Misc. reports income that you received as an electrical contractor, use Schedule C to detail the amounts you spent on tools, supplies, vehicle expenses, advertising and any other deductible cost associated with running your electrical contracting business. Report your gross receipts on Schedule C as the sum of all of the 1099-Misc. forms you received, as well as any other electrical contracting income not reported on 1099-Misc. forms. Subtract the total of your allowable expenses from your gross receipts to calculate your taxable income.
